It was a classic midsummer showdown in Queens as the Mets hosted the Yankees for a 3-game Subway Series at Citi Field. Here’s the breakdown:
Game 1: Mets 6, Yankees 5
This one started hot — Jasson Domínguez and Aaron Judge homered in their first at-bats.
The Mets answered quickly: Juan Soto went opposite field to tie it in the bottom of the 1st.(Fun fact: People love to call Yankee Stadium a "Little League park," but Soto’s homer would’ve stayed in at Yankee Stadium.)
The game stayed tight, but Jeff McNeil crushed a go-ahead 2-run homer in the 8th to win it for the Mets.
Game 2: Mets 12, Yankees 6
This one got away fast. The Mets jumped out to a 4–0 lead after a Brandon Nimmo grand slam in the 1st inning.
The Yankees made it interesting and cut it to 7–5, but then came a questionable decision — Aaron Boone brought in a pitcher making his MLB debut to face Juan Soto and Pete Alonso.
That move backfired. The Mets pulled away and took the win — and the series — with a 12–6 final.
Game 3: Yankees 6, Mets 4
The Yankees came out strong with a 5–0 lead, but their pitching struggled again, and the Mets made it 5–4 by the 7th.
Aaron Judge added a sac fly to give the Yankees some cushion, and they held on for a 6–4 win.
The season series between the two New York teams ends tied at 3–3.
